Grammar notes:

The verb “ir” means “to go” and it is an irregular verb in Spanish. Because it doesn’t follow regular patterns, it’s important to memorize these forms.

After the verb “ir”, we almost always use the preposition “a” to indicate two things:

1. where someone is going (the destination)
2. what they are going to do there (the action). Both uses require “a”. The order of either can change without affecting the meaning.

<aside> 🏢 Yo voy a mi oficina a trabajar. = Yo voy a trabajar a mi oficina.

When we want to talk about how someone gets to a place — the means of transportation — we use the preposition “en” after the verb ir.

<aside> 🚴‍♂️ Tú vas en bicicleta. Nosotros vamos a la escuela en autobús.
